Luke Thornsbury

I am 17 years and a junior in high school in a southwest suburb of Chicago, Illinois. I originally got into archery because my dad bow hunted.  I started shooting compound in 3D shoots when I was 8 years old. When I was 12 years old I started training at Bowdoc with Coach Jeff Sanchez.  I switched to barebow when I was 13.  I primarily compete in Barebow, but I still will occasionally compete in 3D with my compound as well as my barebow.  I still train under Bowdoc on their Elite JOAD Team. 2024 was an exciting barebow competition year for me. I shot in the Vegas Shoot and finished 9th in the 1st flight, then set 3 National Records for Indoor, NFAA Indoor Nationals (1st place), USA Indoor Nationals JOAD (1st place), USA Indoor Nationals All Ages (1st place U18), Gator Cup (2nd place), USA Field Trials and Nationals (1st place and a trip to Worlds!), JOAD Outdoor Nationals (1st place), Buckeye Classic (2nd place), and 2024 World Field Championship (5th in Individuals, 3rdin Mixed Teams, and 4th in Men’s Team). Other things I enjoy doing when I’m not shooting is fishing, boating, hunting, and just being outdoors. Currently I am figuring out my college path, which hopefully includes shooting on a team, and what is next for me after high school.
